    Question

  • I need to make the text field larger than 255 characters. I know we can change the code, but how do I get to it?

Answers

  • The next size up is a memo field and you can do that at the table level.  So not sure what code you are referring to...

  • A text field can only be 255 or smaller. A memo field can be a couple of meg but has limitations. You can not sort a memo field but a work around is to take 255 chunks and sort - Left(memo, 255) Mid( memo, 256, 255) etc.

  • Yes as Gina said, a Text Field has a limit of 255 characters.

If you mean to show all the 255 characters in a TextField on a Form, make the textbox larger.

In a Form or Report view (screen or print) you can set the CanGrow option to Yes, to expand the fieldsize based on content.

If that is what you are after. Please explain more if not.
