Visio 2013 Rounded Rectangle With Fixed Corner Radius

    Question

  • In Visio 2013, I'm attempting to create a long (width wise) rounded rectangle.  However, when I stretch the width of the rectangle, it also seems to change the corner radius of the rectangle.  Is there a way for me to fix the corner radius for a longer rectangle so it remains the same as the original rounded rectangle?

See the attached Screen Shot for reference.

    Thanks,

    Felix

  • That particular shape is a special one that has a number of different corner rounding options allowing you to set each corner separately.  'Rounded Rectangle' and the following ten masters in that stencil are really the same shape with some of those different options set.  The corner radius, as you've no doubt seen, is controlled by a control handle (displays as yellow when the shape is selected), however defined as a proportion of the shape's width and hence the behaviour you're seeing.

If you want to set a specific corner rounding irrespective of the shape's size I would look at the top 'Rectangle' master and set it's corner rounding via the 'Format Shape' context menu item on the shape.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thanks John.  That definitely helps.

For those of you that want a visual here's a screenshot of the handle that controls the radius.
