I'm new to office development and I'm unclear on if Apps for Office are a replacement for the older interop methods of automating word, or if they're just to enable new user experiences. For example, if I want to automate a mail merge (e.g. as done
in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301659), would I still use the interop libraries, or is there an 'Apps' equivalent approach that should be used when targeting Word 2013?
