MS Project - Adding a Customized Field to Gannt Chart from Entry Table

    Question

  • I added a separate date field to the Entry Table to better organize our process.  It basically provides an expected date for users to see changes based on completed tasks.  It is more or less an expected deliverable date.  Nonetheless, I would like to have this date show on the right side of the bars within the chart.  However, they do not show in the selection when I use the Gannt Chart Wizard and select Custom Task Information.  Is there a way to add the fields to the list of Custom Task Information for placement on the chart?

    Thanks,

    Do this:

    1.  Double-click anywhere in the white part of the Gantt Chart to display the Bar Styles dialog.
    2.  In the lower left corner of the dialog, click the Text tab.
    3.  Click the Right pick list and select the custom Date field.
    4.  Click the OK button.

    Hope this helps.

  • Kilabru,

Yes, go to Format/Bar Styles group. Click on the Format icon and you will see a drop down with two choices. Select the Bar Styles. In the Bar Styles window at the bottom select the Text tab. There you can select any Project field to be displayed in or around the Gantt bar that is selected in the upper part of the Bar Styles Window.

However you might want to simply use Project' built-in fields for deliverables. Check out Deliverable Start, Deliverable Finish, and Deliverable Type. For more information on those fields check Project's help file or add those fields as a column in your view and then hover you mouse over the column heading for a quick explanation.

    Hope this helps.
