Our program is causing Microsoft Office to crash

    Question

  • We have been having a few of our customers report that sometimes when our program is up or has been opened outlook, Word, excel, and to a lesser extent explorer.exe itself experiences sporadic first crashes and then continual crashes after that.  We have been trying to duplicate this bug in our own offices and have little to no success.  One user was kind and tech savy enough to get us the  error logs.  I've added them below.  We have upgraded a few of our third party tools, and added few more (telerik),  I have also sent them a support issue.  On some computers the crash seems to go away if you use the /resenavepane command line argument opening whichever program crashes.  Also many of the computers have the online meeting and the conversation history addins for Microsoft Lync.  I'm out of Idea's so I'm asking if you've heard anything similar.

  • Hi,
I want to confirm two questions with you:
    1. How do your program interact with Office products, VSTO or OpenXML?
    2. Would you please tell us the Operation System version?

  • 1. It actually doesn't.  I put this question in the Office Tools because its causing Office to crash, but doesn't actually use anything in office.  It does have an excel extension but we've tried disabling it and it doesn't prevent the issue.

    2. Windows 7 x64

  • An update on our status:

I seemed to have fixed the issue with any of Office Products on our computer.  The issue is that Explorer now occasionally crashes.  This pretty much only happens after our program is opened.  Is there anything that I could be doing that is getting Explorer to crash?  We are using a few 3rd party controls, but our calculations are not incredibly Labor intensive.

heres the event Log Dump, its almost always the same exception number.
