Link a SubForm to a Form

    Question

  • I was watching the video here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ei0PFrDUa0

I’m trying to do something similar, but I have no such options to link the parent and child.  When I add a ComboBox (Customers) to a form and try to link that to a SubForm (CustomersOrders), I try to set the Link Master Fields or Link Child Fields, in Properties, but I keep getting a message that says ‘Can’t build a link between unbound forms’.  I know these are linked via CustomerID, but Access won’t let me set up the parent/child relationship on the form!

    What am I doing wrong?

  • You are not doing anything wrong, you just can't use the wizard, see...

  • 2 Years on and that link saved me as well.  Oddly from all the pages I've looked at this one I understood!

    Thanks Gina  :)
