IM it (Triggering activity from web) - Testing

    Question

  • Hi,

    We are trying to built something like the IM it on this page:

    http://news.sg.msn.com/TopStories/article.aspx?cp-documentid=166709

    We success to test & trigger an activity page by using the MSGRP2P.xml file from the Messenger Window itself.

    But when we try to trigger the activity from a local website, it gives the error:

    "Windows Live Messenger cannot start this program. Please try again later."

    For the "IM it", we copied the javascript from the page

    (http://stjjp.msn.com/br/intl/xpr/js/3/xpr_toolbar.js)

    Our local webpage:

    <a id="messenger" href="#toolbar" onclick="imIt('cp-documentid','164354')" title="Click here to IM it!"><img width="16" height="16" alt="Click here to IM it!" src="http://stcjp.msn.com/br//intl/xpr/img/im.gif" /><br /><span>IM it</span></a>

    We tried to manually change the appID for the line:

    try{imObject.LaunchApp("7","");

    but it still cannot launch our test activity.

    Is this the correct way to test a web triggered activity?

  • There's nothing wrong with your code, but for some reason this javascript doesn't work with test id 7, that you should use for testing. Once your activity has been approved and has a "real" activity ID, you should put that instead the 7 and it should all work properly.

    Thanks,

    We have submitted our company's activity which will display the latest company's blog.

    Hopefully it will be approved and we will get the real activity.
