      -- When uploading a large file from Windows Phone, an OutOfMemoryException occurs.

      Description:

      If you try to upload a large file using the Windows Phone UploadAsync method, your app could encounter an OutOfMemoryException. The exact size that triggers this exception depends on how much available memory is available to your app, which could vary depend on the state of your app as well as the capabilities of the physical device itself. In our experience, a file larger than 50M would trigger this problem fairly consistently.

      Workarounds:

      Unfortunately there is no work-around for this problem. We recommend that you test your app for a reliable upload size and limit your files to that size.

      -- create or download files with special URI characters in their filename do not work properly.

      Description:

      Trying to create or download the content of files with special URI characters in their filename such as ‘#’, ‘%’ or ‘+’ in their filenames does not work properly. When trying to create files with these characters in their name, the request might get rejected or else the file might be created but the name of the file created might be cut off or garbled. In addition, the URLs the APIs return to download files with these characters in their names do not have these characters properly escaped. This will cause the download to fail with a 404 error.

      -- Window Phone apps may encounter error "You cannot call WebBrowser methods until it is in the visual tree".

      Description:

      If you have already published your app to the Windows Phone Marketplace and then later test your app in the Windows Phone Emulator, if you click the Live Connect sign-in control, the following error may appear: "You cannot call WebBrowser methods until it is in the visual tree."

      Workarounds:

      To fix this error, add these Capability elements to your solution’s WMAppManifest.xml file:

      <Capabilities>
          <Capability Name="ID_CAP_NETWORKING" />
          <Capability Name="ID_CAP_WEBBROWSERCOMPONENT" />

      -- Apps that continue to make requests after being throttled can continue to increase the required wait time on the throttle.

      Description:

      If an app makes more requests for a particular user in a short amount of time, it is possible for the app to be throttled. There is currently a bug where if at that point the app continues to try to make requests without waiting for the amount of time specified in the response, the time that the app will remain throttled will continue to grow.

      Workarounds:

      If your app receives an error code of “request_throttled” (or a 420 HTTP response code) parse the “Retry-After” header in the response and do not make any requests until that number of seconds.

      -- When downloading file that are deep in the folder structure, download fails.

      -- When requesting SkyDrive items with limit > 255 results in a 500 Server Error.

      Description:

      When an application uses the REST API to retrieve items in SkyDrive, the service enforces a limit of 255 items per page. If the application asks for a page that contains more than 255 items, for example, by issuing a GET request to /me/skydrive/files?limit=300, the API service returns 500 Server Error.

      Workarounds:

      Use page size that’s <=255, for example, /me/skydrive/files?limit=255.

      Status update:

      We continue to enforce the 255 page size, however we should return 400 Bad Request instead of 500 Server Error. Currently there is no ETA for releasing a fix for the error code.

  • You should add the UploadProgressChanged event issue to the ToC at the top of the post.

    According to this thread (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/messengerconnect/thread/a9815b1e-ce61-4be2-98e7-ea4b2e2a44ce) you were looking to address the uploadProgresschanged issue in the next release.  I would assume the majority of the cases using UploadAsync for WP7 will be uploading a stream from isolatedstorage, and should as such have a known file size.

    Can you confirm whether the fix will be in for the next release?  Any ETA for the release date?

  • @JohnQShepard: per this post, the Live Connect forum is not the right place for this type of issue. You should consider reporting your issue in this forum instead.
