Hi,
Is there any way developer can develop Metro style apps/WinRT programs in VS11 beta on Windows 7?
I can't new/open Metro style projects in my VS11 ultimate beta on Windows 7. I'm wondering maybe Microsoft has Metro style extension SDK or something can let me program Metro style app in Windows 7.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
Metro style application can only be developed on Windows 8 Consumer Preview. You cannot develop these on Windows 7 or Windows Server 8 Beta. You can check the below link for getting started on Metro app development.

Hi Navit,
Does Microsoft have any plan to let this happen? I believe if Metro style app can be developed on Windows 7, it will be more convenient for many developers.
Thank you.

Since Win 8 is not a desktop friendly OS, as a developer I was planning on creating Metro apps in Win 7. Are you saing Microsoft has no plans to allow this? If so, its going to keep a lot of us from developing Metro apps.
Or could it be that Microsoft intends us to develop on Win Server 2012 as a workstation.
