Jira integration

2009년 11월 21일 토요일 오전 12:22I know this has been asked before but this is still a need and I want to know if there are any updates on a possible solution.
The company I work for has adopted Jira as their company-wide task/bug tracking system and we, .net developers, have to work with it even though we are also running TFS 2008 for our source control. Losing all the benefits of TFS Work Items is just a shame for us and I know we are not the only ones in this situation even if I realize this is probably not the most common scenario
Anyway, are there any Jira adapters being worked on or being planned?
If not, I could give this a shot but I am concerned with the "alpha" label of the TFS Integration Platform. Is there a timeframe for when you may be able to rely on this to develop our own solutions
Thanks
Ben

Ben,
I don't think there are any active efforts to build an adapter for Jira. The integration solutions we know about and recommend are all listed on the Team Foundation Server Migration and Integration Solutions page. There is an open proposal for a Jira adapter on the TFS Integration Platform site that dates back to the old toolkit and has collected about 10 votes from others hoping to see a solution.
The alpha label on the platform recognizes a few things, the main one being that the common UI we intend to build to show the state of a running session is not in place. Configuration and monitoring is done primarily with command line tools in this release. We use the alpha version of the TFS Integration Platform and the TFS adapters we shipped with it to keep two TFS systems in sync internally and we are very happy with the stability and quality of the platform in general. We are encouraging developers to pick up the alpha version of the platform now. The alpha is aimed at developers and we'll do what we can to help you be successful or fix the problems you encounter.

Martin,
If you are looking for mirgration from Jira, you could spend 1 or 2 day to develop simple tool to export task/bug to excel. Then you could map field and import into TFS Work Items. I've done this for my former company and it was worked as expected.

2009년 12월 11일 금요일 오후 5:20Thank you for the suggestion but I am looking for a continuous sync (even if only one way) because both systems are being actively used and there is no plan to retire either one of them.

My company is also wanting to migrate all of our defect tracking from JIRA to TFS. While there are export options for the JIRA fields, we also want to make sure to retain all of the file attachments (e.g. screen shots) currently in JIRA as we migrate. Is there an easy solution to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Mark

Just to update the thread - when it comes to TFS2010 and JIRA the UseTFS has just been released.
It offers integration between Jira and TFS source control giving developers possibility to use native Team Foundation controls (like changeset details window, diff viewer, etc.) directly from Jira web interface. Also it can create 'Jira Issue' work item in TFS for each issue that has changeset connected.
Available at Atlassian Marketplace https://plugins.atlassian.com/plugins/com.pigsty.jira.plugin.usetfs

I have a weird feeling you're a bit disappointed Joe - don't know why as UseTFS is a third party plugin (not Atlassian or Microsoft) and I hope that it can still help some people with integration (even though it's 2 years after 2010... but hey, people are still using Windows XP :) ).
Given that next version of TFS is on the way I can just say that it'll be supported in UseTFS. Maybe that will cheer you up a bit.
Cheers

Just as to update - the UseTFS plugin is no longer limited to changesets, now it supports two way synchronization between JIRA issues and TFS work items.
So you can use JIRA for the end users and TFS for developers and most of the information will be in synch (title, description, status, comments, attachments, other fields - all depends on how you configure UseTFS).
Also TFS2012 (TFS11) is fully supported already.
