    I have Visual Studio 2008 with Team Explorer 2008 installed in my machine. My machine is local and is not connected to any LAN or Server. So after installation when I try connecting to Team Foundation Server, I get the error:

    TF31005: Team Foundation Server cannot retrieve the list of team projects because it is not able to connect to Team Foundation Sever TFSArun.

    I have googled for this error all a day and it remains unresolved. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Arun !

    You can try to clean the Cache manually(close VS first):

    1.       Clean the Cache folder on client computer. The folder path is: C:\Users\username(Team Explorer user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\2.0\Cache(os: Windows Server 2008 R2)

    2.      Clean the Cache folder on Server machine. The folder path is: C:\Users\username(Web access user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\2.0\Cache(os: Windows Server 2008 R2)

    3.      After cleaned, on Server machine, click Start and select Run… to open the dialog box, then input iisreset.exe and click OK, wait it run completely.

    After that, open VS, in Team Explorer, Remove your TFS Server and Re-Add it in Add/Remove Team Foundation Server windows, ensure that your TFS Server url input correct, then try to connect again.

    Please let me know in case of concern or query. Also have a look at below thread;

    Hi Niaz,

          I tried the above steps but still am getting the TF31005 error. I added a String Value at “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\TeamFoundation\Servers” named as 'TFSArun' with value as 'http://localhost:8080/tfs/collection'. I am able to see this server name at 'Connect to a Team Foundation Server', after clicking 'ok' with the error message. But the Team Projects list remains empty. Kindly provide a solution.
