    Hi,

Have PowerPivot installed (successfully?).  On my website I created a PowerPivot type site and can access it and the PowerPivot gallery works fine.  SSAS has an instance up and running (servername\PowerPivot).

However, when I try to access Management Dashboard or the SQL Server PowerPivot Service Application I get an error screen that shows the following:

    ***

    Error

    An unexpected error has occurred.

As way of additional information.   It looks like both the links are pointing to a server page called "ServiceAppDashboard.aspx".   I searched the server for that file and it is nowhere to be found.   Problem with the installation routine maybe?  Anyplace I can manually get this file?

    Hi Alan

The file you are looking for won't be found anywhere as it is part of a SharePoint feature and they just store it in their database. Can you check the ULS logs. I have gotten this error before but forget the root cause. I should have blogged it when I hit it the first time. :( Check the logs and get back to me.

    Thanks
    Lee

I think it was a AppPool issue.  I deleted it (again) and recreated the service application and choose a different apppool an now it works....

I was having the same exact problem and couldn't figure out what the issue was. Then went and deleted the PowerPivot service application and all the app pools I had created for it. After this was done, I then created the PowerPivot service application and its app pool again and the problem was solved. It was definitely an app pool issue as Alan mentioned.

    Thanks,
