Can't save site as a template

Question

Hello,

When I go to a sub-site and try to save the site as a template I get this error:

Is there a way to fix this issue?

Hi,

please, paste more log info to see what's happen. Go to sharepoint log file and search correlation ID.

Hi,

Check if there any Report feature is activated under site settings >> Site Features and then deactivate it and save the site as template.

Looks like I am missing all the ReportServerResources.resx flies under my C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Resources\

I checked on another SharePoint server and found out that there are many ReportServerResources.resx flies C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Resources\

I'm wonder if there is a way to add them back?

Seems odd. Usually thou only one server has the SSRS integration installed. Your template must contain on of the report content types or something that is causing it to need those files. What you might try to do is change your host file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and add an entry for your sharepoint URL to point to the IP of the server that does have the reporting services Installation and see if the export works on that server.

You also might want to check and make sure you have the reporting services add-in on all of your front end servers, this is required on all front end servers, but the actual ssrs instance will only be on one server. Can't remember which installs those files but you may be missing that on one of your front ends(doing the host file method will answer this if it works). 

p.s. also make sure it's the same version that you install if you are missing the reporting services add-in installation on one of  the server.

Hi Turismon,

Let me clarify myself. I have 2 SharePoint servers (not in the same farm) one is in the testing and one in production.

I had issues creating site templates on my production SharePoint server so by reading the logs and the correlation ID's I figure out that I am missing bunch of files ReportServerResources.resx because I compared it to my SharePoint in the testing environment.

My question: How can I add the reporting server to the production SharePoint server so it will create the ReportServerResources.resx files?

Well it depends on if you actually use the reporting services in Test. You can just try to install the reporting services add-in to your front end production server and that might fix your issue, you may not need to do a full deployment. Try that first since it's a lot easier to do than a full ssrs integration. You can get the add in here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28132 but again you might want to look in your add-remove programs on your test server for it and see if it has the kbarticle for it or the version and you might want to match it up. Or just install the newest one for the sql version you have. I don't think it will really matter.

Kind of odd thou that your server is wanting these files, did you restore a site from your test server to production then try making a template of it?

The solution was:

I had to delete any solutions from the solution galary - Site Actions --> Site Settings -- Solutions.
