    I’ve got a quick question in regards to the upgrade process for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010.

    One source here says that an upgrade from SharePoint Services 3 (SP 2 - 12.0.6425.1000 ) to SharePoint 2010 is NOT an option vs. another says it’s do-able?

    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/ee947141%28office.14%29.aspx (no direct upgrade)

    or

    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/cc287821%28office.14%29.aspx (direct upgrade)

    I have an in-house upgrade I need to do tomorrow:

    Team Foundation Server 2010 SP1 (installed/running last 2 years/staying the same)

    SQL server 2008 R2 (installed/running last 2 years/staying the same)

    SharePoint Services v3.0 SP 2 (installed/running last 2 years) --> SharePoint Server 2010 NEW INSTALL + UPGRADE

    The MS docs always confuse the poop out of me...

    Some docs say I can do a TFS attach of databases directly to SharePoint Server 2010 and upgrade, the other sets of docs say it's a 2-step process:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee947141.aspx

    Anyone done this recently?

    Thanks

    Rob

    We've upgraded both our SharePoint and TFS environments about 2 years ago. We did threat the TFS upgrade seperately though, not sure what you mean by TFS attach toSharePoint Server 2010. Is you TFS server up to the 2010 version already, or 2008?

    Just to be clear, you want to upgrade you TFS environment and want to ensure you can also upgrade the associated team project sites that are on WSS 3.0? Is that it?

    Performed it last year.

    You will need to attach DBs to appropriate WA directly then upgrade them using PowerShell.
