Unanswered Export To Excel - Cannot get the list schema column property from the SharePoint list

Hello, I have read a bunch of posts related to the export to excel problem "Cannot get the list schema column property from the SharePoint list", however none seem to work for my situation.

    the environment/desktop is:

    • Windows 7
    • Office 2007 SP3 MSO (12.0.6611.1000)
    • SharePoint 2010 SP1 with December 2011 CU

THere is one lookup column, 1 date column and 1 workflow column from a Designer workflow in the list.  I have tried to change the date column type to single line of text then back to date, and that doesn't work.  Even if it did, that isn't a workable solution, we need this fixed globally.  I have confirmed that an export to excel does work for a simple list with no lookup or date columns or workflow columns.

Can anyone comment if there is any hotfix available for this, or a solution that can be used globally across all of SharePoint?  thank you, mark

    Thank you for responding.

It appears that you have hotfixes/updates applied to Office, a later patch level than what I have.  Also, your SharePoint is a patched later than mine too.

I just went through all the descriptions of the issues fixed by the SharePoint CU updates, I didn't find any reference to this issue.  Also, the Office hotfix description didn't mention anything about this issue either.

I am hesitant about about applying all these hotfixes without the descriptions clearly citing this problem.  One comment I can make is, that this problem does not exist with Office 2010.  So, I believe it has nothing to do with the SharePoint CU update level.

    Hi Mark,

Just for troubleshooting, does this happens to all lists, even the OOB and 100% not customized ones?

Thanks for responding.  If I create a custom list with just a Title column, a Date column and Lookup column, I am able to export fine.

This issue seems to be tied to the Designer workflow column that is added to the list, or in combination of workflow column + date column + lookup column

Hi there. I am having the same issue here. I have MS Office 2010 and can export every view from our hosted SharePoint 2010 site. However, I have users with MS Office 2007 SP3 who are getting that "list schema" error. My view is built from a list which has lookup columns. It's just a mail merge...First Name, Last Name, address, etc...

I've tried every solution out there and can't get these users fixed.

    Has ANYONE solved this?

    THANKS!
