writing a DateTime cell in a spreadsheet, XML format

Question

My C# app put this cell in a row:
<ss:Cell><ss:Data ss:Type="DateTime">2007-07-06T00:00:00.000</ss:Data></ss:Cell>

when I load the file in Excel, I see the value as 39269.

What do I need to put into the cell so that it displays properly.

Strange, looks like excel parses your line incorrectly. As you can see in this post, you are doing it correctly. Just read through the post, maybe it will give you some insight on how to solve this problem (for example, remove the namespaces in the elements, but I hardly believe that is the cause).

The date is correct:  39269 = 07/06/07.  Change the cell format to date.

As it turns out, I needed to set up ShortDateFormat in a style. Once I took care of that, it worked.
