Hey folks,
I have a 6 page xps document that I generate from my app, which is 350KB in size. When I open it from IE and print it to a network laser printer (that sits next to my desk) it takes almost 5 minutes to start. It's just in my printer queue slowly transfering data. Every other kind of document prints immeadiatly, but xps takes forever.
So, I downloaded the XPS Essentials Pack hoping it would be maybe install a better xps printer driver and fix this problem. Now it'll open it in an xps viewer instead of IE. When I print from there, it seems to print 1 page at a time. In other words, it prints a page, 60 seconds later it prints another page... So it takes the same amount of time in the end, however this way it is actually more confusing for the end user who may think the job is done before it is. Also, it prints incorrectly this way. Words appear bold when they shouldn't be and everything is fuzzy.
Luckily I can still open in IE and print from there. What can I do about this speed issue though? If I convert the doc to pdf and print it as a pdf, it comes out of the printer right away. Printing the xps to a pdf printer (cutepdf) takes forever as well though.
This is on a Win XP Pro machine by the way.
Thanks for the help!
