Hi here is hoping someone can help,

The Scenario is as follows :

We have an existing 2000 Forest with 3 Domain Controllers. We are currently inthe process of installing our first 2003 server as a domain controller but seem to be running into some snags along the way.

The installation goes fine and I have run Adprep on the existing schema to allow for the addition of this server as a Domain Controller. What is happening is that we get the following Directory Service alerts on Event Viewer:

    Source:  NTDS KCC

    Category:  Knowledge Consistency

    Event ID:  1801

Description:  The partition DX=ForestDnsZones,DC=(Domain Name) should be hosted at site CN=(Domain Name),CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=(Domain Name), but has not been instantiated yet. However, the KCC could not find any hosts from which to replicate this partition.

We have tried demoting the Domain Controller and then again promoting it from scratch to no avail. I have also run the fix as according to Article ID : 314649 "Windows Server 2003 adprep /forestprep command causes mangled attributes in Windows 2000 forests that contain Exchange 2000 servers"

This did fix the fault as described in the above stated document.

Please could anyone advise accordingly what we could do to rectify this fault.

This forum is dedicated to the setup and installation of Team Foundation Server, which is a component of Visual Studio Team Suite. You'll find folks with more Active Directory expertise in the Active Directory Newsgroup who will be better equiped to answer your question.

    Best of luck-

    Cheers,
    Adam
