Indexing PDF documents
- Hi,
I'm looking into an issue where by PDF documents are not being indexed based on there content in SharePoint Portal 2007. SharePoint is installed on a 64 bit windows platform, i've also installed the Adobe iFilter 64 and made sure its configured as per the instructions on Adobe's site. This is an upgrade, as iFilter 5 was installed previously.
The search will return PDF files if the name contains one of the search terms, it will not however return entries based on the content of the files. I've been through numerous forums looking at various things to try but none of them seem to resolve the issue. I'm hoping someone here can maybe help with some new things to try.
One thing that did occur to me was that SQL server is installed on the same box, however this is the 32 bit version. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Any help on this matter would be most aprpreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Grant

- Try out the chargeable FoxIt filter instead.

It's supposed to be better and faster than the free Adobe one and I would guess there is a trial version.

- It was certainly an option, i'll look for a trial version to give it a shot. I'd just like to know why the Adobe one is causing me so much grief.
Thanks for the input.
