Unanswered Categories on Enterprise Wiki pages

    Hi

I had a user that delected our Wiki Categories Columns under Library Settings of our Man wiki site, after that we lost our Categories on the right hand side of our Wiki pages.

I have tried to get this back by recreating the Wiki Categories and setting up the Managed Metadata, but the Categories on the pages does not come back up. On other wiki sites we get "No categories were selected" but not on the site where the Columns was deleted, there is just a heading Categories and nothing ells. I have had a look at all the Master and page templates but cant find anything.

Does any one have any idea how I can fix this?

I can use the web part but how do I replace the one that is on all the pages as it looks like it is in the EnterpriseWiki.aspx template.

The weird thing is that the other wiki sites gets the settings from the same master template and they are working, so I think it something to do with a link or something

If any one can help me in the right direction that would be great.

    Thanks for your help

    C

The EnterpriseWiki.aspx is a page layout and the taxonomy (categories) is a control. If you did not change that page, you could recreate the column (it is part of Enterprise Wiki Page, Project Page - which are content types, and you have to point the metadata to the wiki categories in the term store and allow addition to terms).
Then, the layout should hook the service and read the data.

    Hi

    thank you for your reply.

I have not change the EnterpriseWiki.aspx page.

I recreated the column but it did not come back. when I edit a page properties I can set the "Wiki Categories" in there but on the page when I edit it, there is nothing.

Do the name of the Column matter? If so what should be the name, I looked at the other Wiki sites and the column is "Wiki Categories", so I recreated it as "Wiki Categories" but not working.

I am so lost at this stage,

These should be created as part of the content types they belong to (Enterprise Wiki Page, Project Page) and using the site column Wiki Categories (configured to point to meta data store, wiki categories leaf).

    Hi

Thanks for that, I have now got the option to enter the Categories but if I edit the page to enter a categories or just to edit the page and save it I am getting the following error.

if I remove the Wiki Categories again I can edit the pages just fine.

This is the error I am getting

Failed to get value of the "Wiki Categories" column from the "Managed Metadata" field type control.  See details in log. Exception message: Invalid field name. {f863c21f-5fdb-4a91-bb0c-5ae889190dd7} http://website/sites/wiki /sites/wiki/Pages.

And then in the logs I am getting this..

Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to get value of the "Wiki Categories" column from the "Managed Metadata" field type control.  See details in log. Exception message: Invalid field name. {f863c21f-5fdb-4a91-bb0c-5ae889190dd7} http://website/sites/wiki /sites/wiki/Pages.

    Hi Fastie81,

I was wondering if you resolved your issue?  I am having the same issue but with custom Metadata fields.  Everything seems to run great when I create a new page and edit it manually.  But we are in the process of cleaning a couple of existing pages using a Powershell script (take information from the main content and place it in metadata fields) and once this script has run, it will sometimes give me the exact same error.

I noticed that (almost) the same error seems to happen when you create new metadata fields manually and forget to associate a Note field to the Taxonomy field. But our case is different.

    Thanks,
    D
