the server could not complete your request sharepoint designer 2010

Question

hello all,

i was create page layout and associated with content type , but when i open layout into sharepoint designer 2010 to add content type columns i have this  error

"the server could not complete your request "

for specific information click on details button and details message is

"soap:Server The associated content type (id=0x0104, name="content type name") for page layout http://MyPC:8080/_catalogs/masterpage/LayOutName.aspx does not exist. Edit the property of the page layout and change the content type to a valid value.

Hi,

It looks like your content type does not exist on the site that your page layout is on. Is it a custom content type? or out-of-the-box content type you are trying to reference to? Can you confirm that you can see this content type in Site Content Type in Site Settings page.

please try opening your site with IP address instead of host name

yes its custom content type and i can see it into site settings page , i also try predefine content type such that  Announcement ,

it also give me the same error .

i did that it give me this error soap:ServerServer was unable to process request. ---> Value does not fall within the expected range. when trying to open page layout into sharepoint designer with "edit in advanced mode" option
