SharePoint Designer 2010 "Task Form Field" Issues

Hello,

I've been searching for some time now and can't find anything on this particular issue.

I created a custom workflow and I Added 4 different TASK Form Fields, when running the workflow i have to open the task twice and approve twice.

When i create a custom workflow without any TASK Form Fields, i only have to open the task once and approve once.

I do require the custom fields on the approval form but i would like it if i could corect this anoying issue.

Hi Frenchy,

From your description, you are using the Start Approval Process action in the SharePoint Designer workflow, and when you added some task form fields, workflow needs to approve twice. But base on my test, I only get one approval task even I set the workflow start both when item created and modified.

Do you have multiple participants in your approval workflow? If so, approval task will create one task for each participants, and when the workflow is set to send One at a time (serial), it will create one task for one participant in sequence, and if it set to All at once (parallel), it will create multiple tasks for all participants all at a time.

Or have you customized the approval task, if the problem persists, could you please remove all the workflow instances, and create a new one to test it again?

Hello,

I am the only approver, and i did delete all workflow instances along with the custom form feild and recreated them 3 times with the same result.

The only modification was that upon completion i update Current item fields

Now i notice that when i open the original form from the link in the email, it opens in infopath filler and i have to do

Click on Open Task
put comments and approve
Click on Open Task Again
Comments are already there i just have to approve again.

When i open the task from the button in outlook, all i have to do is put in the comments and click approve twice before the task form goes away.

I have create another approval workflow without Task Form field and there is no issues.

Hi Frenchy,

Could you please open the task form in InfoPath designer, and check the rules added to the Approve button? By default, there are 2 actions: 1. Submit data to Approved data connection, 2. Close this form:No prompt. Or could you please remove the button and recreate one with above rule actions.

Hi,

I looked at the rules associated with  the Approve button and it was as described 1. Submit data to Approved data connection, 2. Close this form:No prompt.

I deleted the approve button and recreated one with the same rules, and i get the same result.

Can it be caused by something in our Sharepoint settings \ environment? Im new to Sharepoint and i'm only a site owner.
