    Hello,
I'm a tech for a large college and have mandatory roaming profiles. We image our computers so they all are the same in the end and apply a program called deepfreeze so when the computer is restarted it will all be as if we just imaged it. Now my problem is that each time our users log in Visual studio 2008 wants to run first time configure. In some cases it takes up to 20 minutes. Is there a work around so that I can apply that first time to all my users or roaming profile?
    Thanks

    Hi Psluder,

Do you mean that Visual Studio is always to configure every time your users launch it?

If yes, please try the following workaround:

Click on the Tools > Options... Select "Import and Export Settings", and change the path under "Automatically save my settings to this file:" to a path that is NOT under the "My Documents" directory. Please try saving the setting on other disk.

Let me know if it works.

    Thanks

This doesn't seem to work. I've built the roaming profile having VS2008 pointed to the profile on the c: drive. but it sill wants to build a profile fore each user that logs in. this is very annoying for our instructors due to the fact they have to wait almost 20 minutes just to get VS up and running.

I have the same problem.  I have tried changing the path to a share on the network that all students have access to.  It still builds a profile for each user.  Any help would be appreciated
