Hi, when trying to launch the PowerPivot window from within Excel 2010 (Home and Business 2010 - Version 14.0.5128.5000 64Bit) I am prompted with three error messages. I have installed the PowerPivot 64 Bit edition, and tried uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, etc, with no luck.
It does not matter if have a blank workbook or try to open an existing PowerPivot the same errors occur.
Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Xrrazr,
Have you updated your SQL Server instance? have you installed another version of your SQL Server? Just based on this error message, we cannnot get to know the root cause, I will involve in some escalated engineer with high level to look at this issue, thanks for your support and patient.
Thanks,
Challen Fu

Hi
I am experience exact same problem as Xrrazr!
Prior to installing latest released version for Powerpivot for Excel2010 (2008R2), I had installed Denali CTP3 om my computer as an instance (both tabular SSAS and multidimensional SSAS). I also has 2008R2 SP1 installed on my computer.
I was trying to load the tutorial data (stores.xlsx); same problem with no data loaded before tyring to launch Power-Pivot window
What to do?
Regards
Annette

xrrazr and Annette A, are you both have Denali CTP installed on your PCs?
Please, try PoverPivot plugin from this location:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26721
Please, check instructions section of the article for more details.
This plugin will work on your system, as a general rule you need matching version of plugin for your version of SQL server.
Please, let us know your results.
Thanks, Vlad.

Hi Vlad
That did the trick; Now I can load powerpivot for Excel (but first had to install Visual Studio 2010 tools for office runtime)
Thanks, :-)

Vlad,
This link http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26721 appears not to be working and I am experiencing the same isssues:
Message 1:
Embedded Analysis Services Engine: Could not open embedded PowerPivot data.
Message 2:
The embedded PowerPivot data is corrupt. You have the following optiosn:
Do Nothing
Attempt to Recover the structure of the PowerPivot data
Delete the PowerPivot data and continue using the workbook
Should I delete all versions of powerpivot and download the new: Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 PowerPivot® for Microsoft® Excel® 2010 Release Candidate 0 (RC0)

Hi Nicholle415, general rule is - your plugin should match version and bittness of your MS Office. I would stay away from Release Candidate unless this is your testing computer.

I am sorry, I am new to attempting to use powerpivot. Can you tell me why you would stay away from:Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 PowerPivot® for Microsoft® Excel® 2010 Release Candidate 0 (RC0)?
Also, is the Denali version no longer available? My boss downloaded this and wanted me to use, however, I am unable to find to download on my computer???? He started a project for me to work on in the below version, but I cannot.
Microsoft SQL Server "Denali" PowerPivot for Excel CTP3 32-bit (274 MB) 11.0.1440.19
THANK YOU FOR YOU Assistance!!!!

Denali is still in the pre-release state (Release Candidate or RC0) : http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/en/us/future-editions.aspx and unless you will have RTM version I would not recommend to install it on your production machine. Version of your Office and your PowerPivot should match, use this site to download current version for Excel 2010: http://www.microsoft.com/bi/en-us/solutions/pages/powerpivot.aspx
Best regards,
Vlad.

Hi Eu-dee Clon, if you have SQL Server 2012 RTM, try PowerPivot 2012 RTM from this location: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/bi/powerpivot.aspx , you can check version number on the download page : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29074 and verify that it is same as returned from SELECT @@VERSION query on your server.

Hi @ all,
I'm having the same problem on opening a blank excelworksheet and try to open the PowerPivot Window. With the local administrative Account it works, but with my domain user which has administrative rights too I'm getting the same error messages. I've tried multiple solutions (reinstall of power pivot, repairing office and power pivot, deleted user profile, etc).
I've downloaded the add-in from this page today: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29074
I'm getting this error on multiple clients and work for a solution since 8 hours.
Is there any solution by now?
Thanks!
Dominik
