DomandaAccess denied on Shared Services Administration "SharedServices1"

I am trying to configure Excel services to try out the functionality in sharepoint.  I am able to create a test site on my MOSS 2007 installation and upload an excel document to the Share Documents folder (as I see it the setup is entirely in a "default" configuration).

When I try to access the file, by going to the Portal, entering the Share Documents link and selecting "View in web browser" from the files drop down menu I receive this Sharepoint Access Denied message.

You do not have permissions to open this file on Excel Services.

Make sure that the file is in an Excel Services trusted location and that you have access to the file

Other searches indicate that this is an issue with the Trusted Locations list in Sharepoint 3.0 administration.  So I tried to access the Trusted Locations list by entering the Shared Services Administration for "SharedServices1" I receive this message:

    Error: Access Denied

I am using my account which I installed the server with.  I am also a member of all the administrator groups that I can find on the server.

Where should I look to enable my permissions for this feature?

There's a differnece between an SSP administrator and a SharePoint administrator. You need to have the SSP admin add you as one.

Logged in with a SSP administrator (should be the user who first installed the Sharepoint) go to the SSP administration then -> Site Actions (up right) -> Site Settings --> People and groups (under User & permissions tag) -> all people (left pane)

Add a user and set full control for it.

    Hi Mr Burke,

Once you had the permissions straightened out.. Were you able to resolve this issue? By adding your  Share Documents to the trusted file location by going to  (Shared Services Administration: SharedServices > Excel Services Trusted File Locations  > Trusted File Location?

Please ping back and let us know?
