ALL Users are migrated to another domain?

Question

Hi,

All the Users and servers are being migrated to another domain, so that means migrating SharePoint environment too. 

Currently we have users connecting from DmA, DmB, DmC etc.. and all SharePoint Admin/service accounts are under DmA.

All this accounts being migrated to a new domain, Dm lets say, so all will change.

What will be the effect and how can we manage this. I cannot find any official documentation except migrate user commands and I need step by step things to do, things to check, things to test!

Hi Ceren,

To submit to the records center, a WebApps application pool account must be a member of Records Center Web Service Submitters For <records center name>.

Users do not require special privileges to submit a file to the records center. Office SharePoint Server 2007 / 2010  automatically grants the user rights, on a per-item basis, to submit a file to the records center. However, the user must be a valid user defined in AD DS Active Directory / Directory Service used by the Records Center site template.

So you'll have to rebuild SharePoint in the new domain (you can't just change the server's domain membership, SharePoint will fail) with new service accounts in the new domain.  When a user moves to the new domain (using ADMT, I'd assume?), you'll want to run:

stsadm -o migrateuser -oldlogin olddomain\username -newlogin newdomain\username

Include the -ignoresidhistory if you're not migrating with SID history.  This will update all locations within SharePoint that references that username to use the new login.

Note that some third-party migration tools allow you to map domains as part of a migration/upgrade. It's an easy way to do it.
