showmodaldialog difference between ie6 and ie7

    Question

  • Hello

In ie6 when in a modal dialog i had to modify the url of a frame in the background window , i had no problem... but now in ie7 i have to close the modal dialog before anything happens in the window background. Does anyone have an explanation on this different behavior between ie6 and ie7?

    Thanks in advance

    Gil.

  • My web application also relies heavily on the ability to update the background window while the modal window is still open. This is not working in IE7. From what I've seen so far, the response from the server gets to the browser as expected, but this is not processed until the modal dialog is closed manually. This means that the script that was meant to run in the background frame (and close the modal window when done) does not execute. Does anyone have a workaround?

  • I discovered that replacing showModalDialog with showModelessDialog solves the problem. The only issue being that the new dialog will no longer be modal.
