    Question

  • Hi,

I have a web client, which displays web links to local files. These links are dynamically generated. Once use clicks on a link, it invokes the file.

For example,  the following code works on Win XP systems and does not work in Win XP SP2.

            <a href="C:\Filename.TXT" target="_blank">Test</a>  ( Target Print shows path like this "File://C\Filename.TXT")

Although I have gone through msdn help describing security change in SP2, I did not understand much. This link should work for win xp sp2 or later, win 2k, win 2k3, Vista etc. Note that the corrosponding file to be invoked may exist at network path having appropriate access rights. This may work in case of //liyu01xp3\c$\c:\...\Emovies.ER1.

Can anybody help me out this hotlink problem?  I do not want to mess up with registry keys.

    Internet Explorer : 6.0.2900.2180.

    Update Version  : XP SP2.

    Thanks in advance..

    Mac

    Hi Mac...

I think it would be better if you replace the C: in your file neme with c$ and I suppose it would do the trick.
