Submission version problem
-
13 Juni 2009 16:01Hi there,
It appears that Visual Studio Gallery submission process enforces version numbers where as old one did not. My product version uses the following version format <XX.YY.ZZ>, 2.9.1 for instance. Visual Studio Gallery submission form won't let me enter that type of version saying "Version must be in the format of a major and optionally minor number (e.g., 10 or 10.1)".
I'd like to have that changed as (a) the version format I use makes for a perfectly valid version, (b) my, and I'm sure many other products have had their version format set long before Visual Studio Gallery came online, and (c) old submission form allowed for that version just fine.
Hopping that it'll be addressed soon. Thanks in advance.

15 Juni 2009 3:02I haven't run into this yet, but if this is the case, then here is another vote for change. 1.0.1.1 is different than 1.0.1.2 and the extension manager and/or gallery should not arbitrarily stray from a widely used versioning scheme. I understand that the extension manager and gallery took some cues from the Firefox add-ons ecosystem. Quite a few add-ons use all four parts. Is this a problem simply with the submission form or is there an underlying issue in the extension manager?
EDIT: I should have noted that this is only an issue now that the Gallery can host the extensions and is tied to an update process within the VS2010 Extension Manager. Before, when the Gallery simply listed links to downloads hosted elsewhere, the accuracy of the version info wasn't quite so important.- Diedit oleh sean.e 15 Juni 2009 17:10 why it matters now

We have updated the Visual Studio Gallery yesterday. Let me know if you still have similar issues.
Thanks,
