When i developed one website based on the bing maps 3d and arcgis server (ArcGIS Extension for Bing Maps), there was a red crossing and pc sign above the logo of bing maps 3d when i add an arcgis server service, and it only appeared in 3d mode.
first i think if it's internet problem, but after check many times, i doubt it.
do anybody kown what's the problem, and how to deal with it?
Thanks a lot!

31 Januari 2012 12:32ModeratorThe Bing Maps 3D control was retired in December 2011 (see the sticky announcement at the top of the forum). I imagine it's trying to connect to a server-side service that is no longer operational.

thank you so much.
i read the announcement, but i can use the bing maps 3d as well, only there is a red crossing and pc sign above the logo.
and does that mean i will not able to use the Bing Maps 3D control in few days?

It's unsupported, so it might continue to work, it might not.
And, if it does stop working, there's not going to much you can do about it :(

Even though the 3D control is retired it will still load and render your data, but the elevation data and models will no longer be there. Take a look at this article for more information: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtualearth3d/archive/2011/08/14/how-to-make-virtual-earth-3d-live-forever.aspx

Actually models and elevation continue to work just fine. None of the data or services have been shut down.
What the little red icon indicates is that there have been network request failures. You'll see this if you're on an ureliable network.

Can you see the image?
i add an grcgis server service to the bing maps 3d, but the red crossing still exist and the network request is fine.
and whether the data or services of bing maps 3d will not be able to use in future, in that case, i have to change the platform.
