Hi im trying to make the business case to my manager to upgrade to SQL 2012 - I know one thing that would sway him is if reports ran faster.
Does anyone know if this is the case?
Thanks,
Zoe

Hi Zoe,
I dont think so...though i too have used reports both in SSRS 2008 R2 and SQL 2012, and both have moreless similar performance..

Not automatically.
But Columnstore indexes in data warehouse database are nothing short of miracle. "They are faster than a speeding bullet!"
Columnstore indexes are for static (second-hand dw) tables only, not for dynamic OLTP tables.

I think the main reason to do the upgrade, is not just due to run reports faster but other features of 2012 edition. Read this
