Hi Renu,
Thank you for your post.
1. Would you please try to refresh the work item cache first? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc716728.aspx
2. How do you export WIT, through process editor, or command line?
3. Is the WIT you want to export exist in TFS?
You can use witadmin listwitd /collection:CollectionURL /p:Project to list current available work item types.
4. Is there any detail log in event viewer, it will help narrow down the isssue?
If anything is unclear, please free feel to let me know.
Best Regards,

Hi Lily Wu,
I was able to export the workitem after clearing the cache. Thanks.
Although i have run into another problem. Some of the users are not able to create workitems in their systems . They are member of contributors group and they have all the required permissions . "View projectlevel info" and under areas and iterations "edit work item" . They can create work item from another system but not from theirs. What could be the issue. Thanks!!

Hi Renu,
Thank you for your post!
I am glad to hear that you can export WIT now.
In this thread, we are mainly discussing about export WIT, since your new question is not directly related to the original issue, it would be better if you open up a new thread for the new question. In this way, our discussion here will not deviate too much from the original issue. This will make answer searching in the forum easier and be beneficial to other community members as well.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best Regards,
Lily Wu [MSFT]
