29 Desember 2011 18:13Accidentally I had closed the VS2008 with which I was building a webpage with .aspx, it prompted "Do you want to delete the file default.aspx" and in a hurry i said yes which made to loose the file permanently from the folder also. Is there anyway I could recover the file?

Hi Santanoo,
So you deleted the file from local folder? Do you have the file in TFS server? If so, you can get the file from source control.

If you used the TF Destroy command to delete the file, the operation is unrecoverable. And I don't think you can retrieve back the file. However, if you delete the file in source control explorer (soft delete), you can use "Undo Pending Changes" to recover the file.

Hi Santanoo,
Thanks for your post.
What’s the version of your TFS? Did you delete that file from TFS Source Control?
If deleted files from TFS Source Control, the file also stored in TFS DB, we can Undelete it. In VS, click Tools>>Options>>Source Control>>Visual Studio Team Foundation Server, on the right panel, selected the checkbox of Show deleted items in the Source Control Explorer. Then in Source Control Explorer, right-click the deleted file and select Undelete.
But use the tf destroy command to destroy the file, the file will be deleted permanently, this command belong to Team Foundation Administrators, so the Contributor users have no permission to execute it. Please refer to: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb386005.aspx.
If this issue only relate to VS 2008, I suggest you to contact the VS expert for the better response.

25 April 2012 12:35Hi friend,
You can easily recover files.Sometimes files get corrupted and deleted automatically.Sometimes you may accidentally press the shift + delete key and the files get deleted even from recycle bin.Sometimes due hardware corruption, virus attacks, hard drive failure, abrupt shutdowns files gets deleted and lost.In such cases a good file recovery software cant recover corrupted or lost files. It supports all versions of windows operating systems. For more information you can check this link:http://www.windowsfilerecovery.net/lost-file-recovery-windows-7.html .You can also download the free trail version of the software.
