How to add the text layout tools to any (text) editable pane on any work item type

Question

We are using the Agile template in VS TFS 2010, which provides us with the standard WI types Bug, Task, User Story (etc.). On all WIs the history pane (by default on the right) provides me with the common layout tools like bold, italic, bullet list, etc.

However the left hand pane does not have this for all Wis. E.g. Bug WIs do have these tools available for the left hand pane (which is called Detals - Steps to Reproduce). The tools help a lot to write easy to read bug reports (including steps to reproduce).

Unfortunately the tools are not available on the left hand pane for e.g. Task WIs (called Details - Description). So how to update the template to also get these tools working on this specific left hand pane?

You get the full text editing experience when the type of the field is set to HTML. You can update the work item to use the HTML field (http://msmvps.com/blogs/vstsblog/archive/2009/01/11/using-rich-html-descriptions-instead-of-plain-text.aspx).

Please note that we will upgrade these fields to HTML when you upgrade to TFS11, so you might want to wait introducing new fields until you upgrade.
