Jawab TFS 2010 with Sharepoint 2010

    Hi..

We are in the process of adapting our development environment to use the new features available with TFS 2010 and then integrating with Share Point 2010.

We have recently migrated from TFS 2008 to TFS 2010 successfully.

We have configured the Reporting/Analysis services also.

Now we are looking at a few things and would appreciate any advice -

[A] We have a number of Team Projects that we had created earlier. Now we want to create share point 2010 site for these projects and use the reporting functionality. Is it possible ?

Also any links / documentation to advice on the same.

[B] Is there any documentation available online for steps to be taken when we look at using the Reporting with TFS 2010.

I have come across many blogs that specify the power of reporting and how it shows reports. I want some documentation advice as to how I configure the TFS + Share point so that I can make use of the features.

    Appreciate any advice.

    Cheers,

You can really go one of two ways you can upgrade your Agile 4.2 or CMMI 4.2 projects in place where you will get some of the new functionality. At least I dont think the inplace upgrade does that for you. There are instructions out on MSDN on how to do this upgrade process. On the Sharepoint side of things you will only get some of the new functionality. You can get the dashboards and the excel reports for instance. If you have used the old conchango project you will not be able update much of anything.

Your other option is to just create a new project in your collection and branch code from your old to your new project. You can also use some Excel tricks to get your work items out of the old and into the new project. Once you get going you wont need that old project anymore.

Too many question there :-), anyway there is a very good video guide which has about 93 videos that explain every steps of TFS 2010 installation and of course including SharePoint 2010 and how to integrate it with TFS 2010 and how to show reports, it will show you also how to test that everything is OK before you go to the next step.

Thanks M.Radwan for your kindly help.

    Hello SMohapatra,

1). Yes, it is possible for you to create SharePoint sites for these existing team projects. Please take a look at this blog for further information: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tfssetup/archive/2012/03/21/unlock-the-files-checked-out-by-others.aspx

2). M.Radwan's link offers great videos which should help you configure your TFS2010 with SharePoint 2010 successfully. If you still have anything unclear, please come back.

    Thanks.
