Access 97 combo box problem after July 2012 OS Patches

We had an issues with a COTS package that uses Access 97 connecting to SQL Server 2000 (windows 2003 SP1) on the backend. Before July 2012 OS patches (applied 22 July 2012) the package worked fine. On Monday the package starting hanging with a select on the SQL server on a screen that was selecting from a combo box. When the users would then try to do an update, the update was blocked by the combo box select causing the update to time out. The COTS software tech made a change by disabling the combo box from doing the select. I am currently in the process of upgrading the OS to SP2

Hello,

I would suggest you to have a look at the security updates you have installed the 07/22/2012 to discover whether there is something related to ACCESS or linked servers.

I am surprised by the use of SQL Server 2000. I was thinking that SQL Server 2000 was no longer supported ( even with the extended support ) since February 2008.
