internet explorer can not display the web page error on excel upload

Question

Hi,

I have a feature in my sharepoint site that many issues can be raised by excel file at a same time by a button click. My problem is that, i have an excel file which have 5000 rows means if i upload it and click the upload button then it should create all 5000 issues and this is working in intranet site but not in internet.

Also in intranet it takes 4-5 min but it creates issues successfully but in internet it throws pop up and asks for user authentication in every 3 min and takes more time and in the end page shows the error like "internet explorer can not display the web page".

For your kind information in the back end it has custom asp.net coding.

please help me out.

Hi Arvindee2007,

Please try the following steps and check if ok:

1. Add your site to the Trusted Sites Internet Zone.
2. Go to Internet Options - Security - Highlight the Trusted Sites Check Mark - click on custom level - scroll to the bottom and in the user authentication section select "Automatic logon with current username and password."
3. This can be done via group policy by going to:  User Configuration - Policies - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Internet Explorer - Internet Control Panel - Security Page - Trusted Sites Zone. From here find "Logon Options" and enable it. Pick the "Automatic logon with current username and password option."

It solves my minor problem of user authentication.

Arvindee,

When you see page cannot be displayed error, check the url because it might be adding  " server Port Number" to the url. This may be why you are getting error. Check out Alternate Access Mapping settings in your central admin.
