Media Web part stops after playing for 30 seconds

Question

I checked the video file by downloading to my desktop and it plays fine, 22 minute lenght video. But in the media web part it stops at 30 seconds. Does anybody knows why this could be? The other videos are fine- the problem is just with this one. I tried re-configuring the web part but it does not play after 30 seconds.

Hi, if the other videos are fine, the problem is this video. All videos have the same format? (avi,mpeg,flv,...)

Try to export to other format or recode the video again.

Hi,

have you tried to recode or export this video to another format? When you do it, try to plug it in the media web part.

I'm sure the problem is in the video, not in Sharepoint.

I think my only option is to convert it to mp4? Media player works with wmv and mp4 right?

Yes, mp4 is supported. Media web part is a silverlight control.

Hi Cerenn,

The answer to your actual question is that , it seems your video is corrupt some where near 30 seconds, try to convert it in some other format.

The media player will work fine with wmv file format, but it does not supports the mp4 file format, but you can run mp4 files in media player after installing codec MPEG-4 decorder packs.

I just do not understand why my video is corrupt. Because it plays fine on Desktop with windows media player. I am now converting it to mp4 and let you know what happens then!
