Availability Source and Symbols for .NET 4.0 GDR Update v2

Hi,

can you please tell us about the plans if and when source and symbols for .NET 4.0 GDR Update v2 (or at least v1) become available for download?

It seems that currently there is only a .NET 4.0 RTM version available - this version is quite old, a lot of QFEs, Security Hotfixes etc. were released since this point. If you have a full patched machine it isn't commonly possible to use this old version.

Additionally it would be very helpful if you provide the release date of each download package as a seperate column in the view.

We expect to have the .NET 4 GDR Update v2 available for download and via the reference source service in the next couple of weeks.

 

There are also plans in place to get the main download page updated with more detailed version and release information shortly after. Thanks for the suggestion.

Any updates on this? It seems as though WPF is not going to be getting that much attention given the new programming models for Windows 8 (Metro), but still... If .NET4/WPF is going to remain relatively static, all the more reason to release the sources -- then you won't have to do it again!

Any updates to the .NET reference source code?  I am trying to debug into the code but I get the error  "Stepping over method without symbols" yet VS is downloading the symbols.

(Managed (v4.0.30319)): Loaded 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Xml\v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\System.Xml.dll', Symbols loaded.

I have checked my VS 2010 debug symbol cache and a debug file does exist.  I have cleared the cache many times over to validate I am getting debug symbols.

I have tried everything to get things to work but I can't get it to work.

Still no news on this issue?? Or is only 4.5 being updated?
