It's also highly recommended that you run the Visual Studio and .NET log collection utility available from http://go.microsoft.com/?LinkId=8967043. More information about this Microsoft tool is available at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/heaths/archive/2008/05/09/visual-studio-and-net-log-collection-utility.aspx.

Posting this to the Internet - like on SkyDrive.com that offers 25GB of free space for any Live ID - and sending us the URL will be very helpful in determining setup-related problems.

Hi,

I saw this thread and decided to post my question here. I am having a problem with installing Visual Studio Web Developer 2010. And I posted it yesterday at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/695b9ad8-07af-434a-9482-52f76628b54f. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. And I've installed Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Client.  As you said, I run the collection tool and I uploaded the log file to the SkyDrive.com. I'm not very familiar with this forum and I'm sorry if I made some mistakes.

hello all

i was trying to install vs 2008 sp1 from http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Visual-Studio-2008-Service-Pack-1/3000-2247_4-196278.html but it failed and error displayed was "SPInstaller has stopped working" i have also stopped antivirus but it didn't helped.

I have windows 7 64 bit. please help me out.

Dear Heath,

Skydrive storage now is limited to 7 GB. Just thought would correct your mention.

Given that the article referenced on the log collection utility is from May, 2009, and that article only describes the tool as working up to .NET 3.0: is that tool still useful ?

And if the tool still works, it would be handy to know, here, that what it creates is a "vslogs.cab" file. After the tool exits execution, you have no idea what filetype it has created and where that file is located unless you've read the article.

May I suggest you update your statement about SkyDrive so that it shows the SkyDrive free account as 7gb ?

Hi,

Having the VS2012 Ultimate installation issue on WIndows7 X64 machine, analyzed LogFile several times but no luck.
