Guidance Package Manager doesn't work in VS2008SP1

Question

Hi,

I have a VS2008SP1 installed on my Vista machine and after I installed GAX it is not visible in the VS menu. The Guidance Package Manager becomes visible in the tools menu only after I open some project or solution in VS.

I also cannot create my own guidance packages because when I point on the File menu, to New, and then click Project I see Guidance Packages project type branch, but there are no templates that I can select.

Before I installed GuidanceAutomationToolkitForVS2008.msi, I installed GuidanceAutomationExtensions.exe and then run gaxp1409.exe. There were no issues during the installation.

Hi Michael,

The Guidance Package Manager will only show if there is an open solution, that's by design, as you can only enable/disable packages on solutions.

I'll take a look at the log and come back to you with some ideas to try.

Hi Michael,

Did you tried to repair the GAT installation through the Add/Remove programs? if so, and you still have the issue

please try to execute:

devenv.exe /setup

let me know if the issue has been solved or not.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I've tried to uninstall/resinstall GAT and extensions, repair via Add/Remove Programs and run devenv /setup, but nothing helps... I still can't create my own guidance projects.

please try to run the gaxtroubleshooter /reregister, it will force the GAX and GAT registration.

I have Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008. I have installed thE GAT but I can not see the option on creating a new project. I have read all your suggestion. Where can I download the GAXTRoubleshooter?
