The path of the item '(null)' is not valid on drillthrough report in winforms

Question

Using VS 2008, Winforms, .Net 3.5, SSRS 2008, ReportViewer processing mode is set to Remote. The initial server report appears fine. But upon clicking any value that is supposed to launch a drill through report, I get "The path of the item '(null)' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long.....(rsInvalidItemPath). The drill through works great when run from sql report manager, or from a web application using the webforms reportviewer. But in winforms, the drillthrough doesn't work at all.

I've seen several postings referring to getting a similar error on secondary drillthrough attempts. But this happens on the first attempt.

Do I need to construct the path for the drillthrough report differently for the winforms viewer? For the web, I just use the name of the report from the drop down list.

Any help is appreciated.

I have tried the things you have described with Report Viewer 2008 SP1, everything works fine.

So, I would suggest you updating Report Viewer 2008 SP1 to solve the issue.


If that does not help, could you please give us a sample application, sample reports and sample data, that will help us to do future research.
