תשובה Members missing from groups

    I am new to SharePoint, so excuse me if this is a stupid question. When checking on site permissions, I notice that there are everal groups with access to a given area that have no members visable when the group is opened. I think that is odd because when I check the permission of a user, who has just made a change/addition on the site, I can see that they are a member of the group.

    I am listed as an SPAdmin. I have two other co-workers, one of which is the person who created these groups. It is interesting that I can see members in some of the groups but not others. My co-workers are having the same issue.

    Again I am just learning SharePoint 2010.

    In my research I found that if I open the home page of our SharPoint - select Site Actions - Edit in SharePoint Designer. Go down to the "Site groups" in the navigation pane. I can see the group. I open the group to display the group information and I can see that there are 5 other groups ( Active Directory groups )listed as members of the group. This same group appears empty when I view it using "Site Permissions" from the same site.

    Any ideas on what I am missing?

    Hi,

    Is the group you are talking about a SharePoint or active directory group?

    If it were a SharePoint group, you can see the member of the group. However, if it were an active directory group, you can’t see its’ member.

    The site group you clicked in SharePoint designer only include SharePoint group.

    Finally, please check your co-workers are belong to site administrator? If not, add them into site administrator, then test again.

    I am checking the site permissions to look at SharePoint groups. Inside the SharePoint groups we have Active Directory groups listed as members. Inside those Active Directory groups are the users, whoa re located in Active Directory. The members of the SharePoint groups are what keep disappearing.

    I am in the SharePoint Site Collection Administrator group.

    Another interesting note: From the home site I go to Site Actions - Site Settings - People and Groups, that is empty also. If I open it in Designer I can see all the SharePoint groups and thier members.
