Last Friday my Data Tips worked great in an all day debug session. I came in this Monday 4-9-12, got latest and the Data Tips do not work when a breakpoint has been hit. My Locals, Autos, Watch, etc all work just fine. I've tried clicking on the variable of interest in the code window to ensure focus is proper and no luck.
I am debugging a large Silverlight app. I do NOT have Debugger Canvas installed, and I've not installed any add ons, extensions, or Visual Studio settings that I am aware of. Did some windows update come out and break these or what?
Thanks in advance,

I have a problem with Data Tips too - they display when a break point has been hit, but they aren't sorted by methods and properties any more and they aren't in alphabetical order either. This has made what was a very helpful tool all but unusable and it's VERY frustrating.
It happened since I did a windows update and got upgraded to IE9.
1) install the latest windows updates (including IE9)
3) put mouse over the hit breakpoint and expand the Data Tips

Hi George, have you installed VS2010 Service Pack 1? We had an issue with data tips not working after installing Debugger Canvas, but it only happened in VS2010 RTM and was fixed in VS2010 SP1.
Sally, I'd ask you the same question, but it sounds like the data tips are showing up for you; it's just that they aren't sorted/grouped like they used to be. On my machine when I hover over a variable and expand it in the popup that appears, the members are listed alphabetically, with different icons based on whether they're methods, fields, or properties, etc. Can you post a screenshot illustrating what you mean?
