I have recently installed Windows live Essentials which includes Windows Live Mail.
How does one use the find feature to locate messages in any of the mail folders and any text within them.
Using find produces no results whatsoever.
I had no problems with the previous version of Windows live mail.

Is there no answer to Flynne's question? I'm looking for an answer to the same question -- how do you search for text strings in email messages stored in Windows Live Mail folders?
Thanks...

I had the same problem but since found an answer that works for me. In Windows Live Mail, under "Folders tab", click Find. You get two options Find Text and Message. The Find Text doesn't work, greyed out. So choose Message. This opens the Find Message window, type the text you want to find in the Message: bar, use the Browse button to set the path to the folder you want searched, then click Find Now. The results appear in the bottom of this Find Message window.
Hope this works as well for you.

Lindy, many thanks. I'm befuddled as to why they haven't simplified such a common task...seems like an unnecessary number of steps, doesn't it?

I found the Find function, but how do I search ALL the folder in all accounts at once? Usually when I need to find an email, its location is lost to me - if I knew what account / folder to look in, I could easily find it w/out searching. I need a way to search ALL of my email folders / accounts at once. I've been looking for days for a solution for this & the closest answer I've seen is to do a search outside of Windows Live Mail (Version 2011 Build 15.4.3538.0513) in the entire computer?
Surely there is a way to search for an email, in the Windows Live Mail email program that doesn't require me to already know where the message is (folder / account)?
Thanks,
Winnie
