Database and Visual Basic

Question

Dear Forum Members, a big greeting to all. I am new to VB programming and its components. Although, I used to write programs on Quick Basic some 9yrs ago. But after a while, I stopped because I could not develop .exe files with BASIC compiler.
Recently I have started learning VB and.. though I have not gone very far, but I want to incorporate Databae with my VB project. I want to design a VB project that will Read/Write from and into a Access database file. I don't know where to start and where to go.
Meanwhile, I only have the VB 2008 development IDE. I am not using Visual Studio. Please help me.
