PowerPivot - "Initialization of the data source failed"

Question

Hello,

I am a new user for PowerPivot; I recently created a file in PowerPivot but my user said they are getting this error "Initialization of the data source failed" when click on the slicer.

How can I let the users use PowerPivot workbook without installing it in their excel?

Their excel version could be 2007 or 2010.

Hi Newiy,

On Windows XP SP2 you might get error: "Initialization of the data source failed.". To fix this problem apply Windows XP Service Pack 3. More info here...

I have a user getting the same error message, he is running Win7 with Office 2007, please advise how to resolve this.  Thanks!
