When I try installing powerpivot to an existing farm in sharepoint, I am unable to see the feature even present during the installation.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Are you running SQL server Enterprise

You must have installation media for the Enterprise, Evaluation, Developer, or Data Center editions of SQL Server 2008 R2.

I have been trying to figure out how to check this.

Is there a query I can run to check whehter I am running enterprise.

Alternatively it says any one of those and I am assuming I might have one of them.

Hi, if you have already used the installation media, read this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321185/en-us.

    Bye

    Hi GoingForward,

If you complete the installation, you can check its version NO. using the query select @@version, before installation, you cannot execute the query. So I think it will be better for you to get this information from the place where you get the setup file.

    Thanks,

My problem is actually during the setup of powerpivot.

The option to "Add powerpivot to an existing farm" does not show up during setup!
I have actually checked to make sure both the sharepoint and sql 2008 versions are compatible and they are.

i have also enabled excel services. I do not why it will not show up. This is the article I am follwoing:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210616.aspx

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi GoingForward,

Not every edition of SQL Server support PowerPivot feature, just like Marek mentioned please check your SQL Server setup file's edition, where you get the setup file? make sure there are one of Enterprise, Evaluation, Developer, or Data Center editions of SQL Server 2008 R2. Otherwise you cannot see this feature option even if have enabled excel services and other preparation work.
