Item level Audience targeting does not work in CQWP

Question

Hi,

if i apply audience at the web part level for CQWP. it works. but if i have a list items with audiences applied for each list item and i use CQWP to show items to users. I am not receiving any item. And when i check the checkbox for "Include items that are not targeted" then i am seeing all of the items from the list.

This was working perfectly in MOSS 2007. we migrated to 2010 and we are working on the 2010 remediations.

behaviour: audience at web part level works but audiences at the item level not working for content query webpart. is there any setting i am missing or something ?

Are your audiences compiled in Central Admin? You may be working with groups (AD or SharePoint)for the test cases. Your CQWP seems to be working fine but audiences may have been reset in CA, or need recompile.

thank you AbedKhooli. Yes, our audiences are compiled in Central admin. ok, we will re-compile the audience and re-test it.

we import users from AD to Sharepoint User Profiles. Create audience and compile them. it works at web part level and not at the item level. why and what would be the issue.

if there is an issue with compilation, why would it work at the web part level. these are the things causing us headaches.

Appreciate your response. could you please share some more thoughts.
