Weird error, but people have reported it.
On a 64 bit laptop w Silverlight installed, we get the error when the add on is enabled in IE. when disabled, we can open word docs.
What's weird is that on a 32 bit laptop with the same silverlight installed and enabled, all docs can open without issue.
We saw the following post that implied the issue might be
This issue occurs when a setting in Internet Information Services turns on dynamic compression for .zip files. However, .zip files are already compressed and do not have to have dynamic compression turned on. Therefore, Silverlight cannot handle the result from the server and the Word Web application crashes.
We followed the instructions but it didn't work.
Any ideas? Is it possible that a 64 bit OS is the culprit? My 32 OS hasn't ever given me a problem.s

Hi,
I've tested this with IE9x64 with Silverlight 5.1.10411.0 and I am able to perform this operation just fine. Make sure Silverlight is updated to 5 since 4 did not have x64 support. http://10rem.net/blog/2011/12/09/announcing-the-release-of-silverlight-5
